Bio

For most of my adolescence and adult life, I've been drawn to illuminated manuscripts and medieval art. I started creating these circular designs for myself, as a way to get my feelings out on paper. I found that I was calmer after making them. When I started making them for friends, some reported that they felt good. I thought maybe this was worth pursuing. Intellectually, I think I'm interested in how circles attempt to make sense of the mystical, whether those attempts are as high-flown as rose windows or mandalas, or as natural as sunflower spirals. Emotionally, I find the circle itself and the repetition of elements calming. Thus, the creative process is also meditative for me. When I give my work, I feel I'm giving a sort of talisman.
